It’s hard to think on the spot isn’t it? Lack of planning is the most common reason social media is taking up more of your time than it should. Bear in mind it’s important not to over-plan, you’ll lose spontaneity. I prefer to have a very rough plan for the next quarter, a rough plan for the month ahead and plan the specifics weekly.

3. Add Value
This is the biggie, the “What’s in it for me?”
So many businesses lose both engagement and hard earned followers by simply posting for the sake of posting. It’s halfhearted, it’s boring and it’s damaging your business.
The best way to engage with your audience is to let them know what’s in it for them. It could be a genuinely good offer, a tip or something that will in some way be of value to them.
Each and every post should in some way give something to the audience. Lets take for example the infamous Mrs Hinch. Mrs Hinch’s success is built on sharing tips and tricks for a clean home, affordable DIY hacks and inclusivity. By giving to her audience she has created an invaluable “army” of followers (#hincharmy).
4. Be Original
You know how those songs at the top of the charts get real old, real fast? Yeah so does replicated content.
Users engage so much better with original content rather than something that’s been replicated or copied from somewhere else. Let’s keep it original as taking content and passing it off as your own could land you in a whole lot of trouble!
5. Find Your Voice
Just who is *insert business name here*?
Your business should have its own identity. This is one of the most challenging parts of successful marketing – finding your voice and more importantly, being consistent with it.
